Italo-UK Science Cafè, Part II: Should I stay, or should I go? UK research and the EU

Part of the “Italo-Uk Science Cafè Seminars”, a series of scientific events organized by the Italian Embassy and the British Science Association in London.

In light of the upcoming EU referendum, join our discussion on the impact of European policies on UK-based research.
There will be talks from two experts in the field, followed by a Q&A session and a drink or two.

Professor Ian Preston is an economist based at UCL, where his research deals with the impact of taxation and public spending on household choices – in terms of work and family expenditure and inequalities between households. His work on the economics of migration concerns the way in which it affects wages, employment and public finances.

Alessandro Allegra’s professional and academic interests lie within science, policy and society, in the UK and beyond. As a Senior Science Policy Adviser at the Royal Society of Biology, his work currently covers a wide range of policy areas including the funding and organisation of research in the UK, EU research policy, the regulation of dual use technologies, and plant sciences.
