THE ETERNAL PRINCESS AND THE SORROW OF THE WORLD

A solo exhibition in the project room by the artist Valentina Mir 29.06.2017 - 28.07.2017

Opening Cocktail Thursday 29th June at 7.00 pm [BOOK NOW]

“Queen, I would like to be the Queen of Hearts”, the Princess who is no longer with us used to say. An icon of our time, Lady Diana was destined to have a singular fate, an intense and brief one, shown with verve and brightness by Valentina Mir. Transparent and dramatic, Princess Diana’s fairy tale runs in parallel with the spectacular energy of another collage "La morte bianca". Taken in Syria, in Turkey or on the Libyan coast, the images seem to be associated randomly, but in fact, obey an implacable logic, in which London, Paris, Berlin and Rome are overtaken by a tsunami born in the rubble of Damas and Mosul.

Valentina Mir’s artworks are a continuous screen, crossed by deep feelings. Evolved with discernment, they emphasize the necessity to react together, in the name of human fraternity, against the evils and the sorrows of the world.
(from the introduction by Duccio Trombadori, poet, journalist, art critic and curator of many important contemporary art exhibitions)

Valentina Mir is an Italian artist raised in Sicily. She currently lives and works in Paris. She has been a dancer, art which is part of her inspiration. Moreover, she has been fascinated by cinema. As associated researcher at the Cinémathèque française, she has developed a reflection over the filmmaking techniques, while finishing her PhD (doctoral fellowship).
