Tosti Celebration

In 1880 Francesco Paolo Tosti (1846-1916) was appointed as the Singing Master to the British Royal Family.
Thanks to his songs characterized by expressive, sweet, singable melodies and smooth, languid sentimentality, the prolific Italian musician was not only considered as the favourite song composer by Queen Victoria and King Edward VII - who awarded him with British citizenship -, but also enjoyed an enormous and long-lasting success in Great Britain.
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the death of a composer the British public still love so deeply, the Italian Cultural Institute is delighted to feature a selection of his most famous songs.
