Benito Madonia in Concert

Benito Madonia has built an international following for his fusion of Neapolitan classical with punchy American rhythm’n’blues. With his 1998 song ‘Male Che Fa Male’, co-composed with Andrea Zuppini and sung by Alex Baroni, he had a bone fide Europe-wide success and, following last year’s ‘Prima di Domani’ album, his concert at the Institute will be a chance to hear new material from his forthcoming album, as well as songs by Pino Daniele, Lucio Dalla and others.
Sicilian by birth, Madonia developed his signature rockin’ Neapolitan style, in his twenties and cut his first album, ‘Vento del Sud’, a collaboration with guitarist Antonio Forcione, for London’s highly regarded Naim label. He has gone on to record two further albums, touring regularly with his Benni Madonia Blues Band.
Benito Madonia will be accompanied by pianist Sandra Lazzarin.
