Colloquium: Sport and Competition in Ancient Greece and Rome

The British Museum presents a two day conference that includes 20 papers by international speakers on imaging athletics, ideas and ideology, risk and reward, locations, status, revivals and receptions. As part of the their Olympics 2012 season of events, the Italian Cultural Institute is supporting the Colloquium, and is bringing Professor Filippo Canali de Rossi to the UK to speak about sport in ancient Rome, and most especially the differences between Roman and Greek ideas of public games.
