Cinema and Food: Storie Di Terra e di RezdoreItaly I 2008 I 60 mins I col I dir by Antonio Cerchi and Nico Lusoli I I cert. tbc I in Italian with English subtitles

A film of tales, memories and taste, a passionate recovery of the gastronomic civilization of Emilia-Romagna

The documentary Storia di terra e di rezdore sprung from the massive collection of documents and instances gathered by the two curators, Antonio Cherchi and Nico Lusoli. This is a story of men and women from the province of Modena, of their antique poverty, their memories and their gastronomic knowledge. The tale tells of a time when agriculture, farming and food were not yet split up by market laws. This project was born from the encounter with a rural community (the province of Modena) and its desire to recover its heritage, traditions and savoir-faire.

The book includes an introduction by Carlo Petrini, the president of Slow Food, the “screenplay” of the film and a number of texts on gastronomy in Modena: the real story of crescentine, gnocco fritto, borlenghi, minestra vedova and tortellini, plus detailed recipes (also on DVD) to make the perfect Modenese menu.

Storie di terra e di rezdore is the first title of the Slow Food on Film. DVD e libro collection, promoted and edited by Cineteca di Bologna and Slow Food international movement.
