Homage to Fabrizio De Andre'
a concert by the group "Faber per Sempre"

The Italian Cultural Institute joins in the series of events organised in Italy and abroad to mark the 10th anniversary of the death of Fabrizio De Andre’, the poet of Italian music, one of the best known Italian singers-songwriters of all times.
In his works he often told stories of marginalized and rebellious people, from the classic songs of the 60s – La Guerra di Piero, Marinella, Via del Campo, La Ballata dell’Eroe, etc, which became instant hits and gave him enormous popularity – to the conceptual albums of the early 70s, like La Buona Novella, Non al denaro ne’ all’amore ne’ al cielo and Storia di un impiegato. His subsequent work shows how deeply his lyrics were influenced by modern poetry, while from the mid 80s he started writing songs in his native Genoese dialect – Crêuza de mä, 1984 – and in the Gallurese dialect of Northern Sardinia – Monti di Mola, 1989 – inspired by his love of the island, unchanged even after his and his second wife’s kidnap for ransom by a gang of Sardinian bandits in 1979.
Pierluigi Michelatti, bass and voice, Alberto Napolitano, voice and guitar, and Maurizio Verna, guitar, offer a selection of songs ranging from the whole repertory of the late artist, some of the most popular ones like the aforementioned Il Pescatore, Via del Campo, Marinella, Bocca di Rosa, as well as some from the early years of his career, rarely executed live by De Andre’ himself like Rimini or Giugno ’73.
Plus, Michelatti, who knew De Andre’ very well having worked with him on as many as five tours and in the recording studio for over 16 years, will talk directly to the public, sharing episodes and memories of his past experiences with the much loved artist.
This concert is more than a tribute: it’s an act of love from the “Faber per Sempre”, a group of excellent musicians, under the patronage of the “Fondazione De Andre’”, that has managed to attract the attention of the most talented and famous Italian singers and song writers such as Vasco Rossi, Zucchero, Ornella Vanoni, Adriano Celentano, Teresa de Sio, Fiorella Mannoia, Loredana Berte’ and many more, who were all on stage at the first performance of this show, in 2000 in Genova, Fabrizio De Andre’s hometown, to re interpret his songs.
